EDS elects MasterCard executive W Roy Dunbar to board of directors

Johannesburg, 17 Nov 2004

EDS today announced that W Roy Dunbar, MasterCard International`s president of Global Technology and Operations, has been elected to its board of directors, effective 19 October.

He becomes the 11th member of EDS`s board and ninth outside director. Dunbar is the fourth new director elected to the board since Mike Jordan was named chairman and CEO in March 2003.

Dunbar joined MasterCard in late September and is responsible for its global payments platform and operations. Prior to this appointment, Dunbar, 43, enjoyed a 14-year career with Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Company. In his most recent assignment as president of intercontinental operations, he was responsible for sales and operations in Africa, the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

From 1999 to 2003, he served as CIO and is credited with transforming the pharmaceutical giant`s use of IT to increase its speed to market with new drugs. Dunbar was also a member of Eli Lilly`s senior management forum, a group of the top 25 leaders responsible for implementing the organisation`s strategy.

"Roy is an important addition to the EDS board," said Jordan. "His leadership experience encompasses an array of disciplines, including global sales, marketing, technology and product development. Roy`s counsel will be invaluable as we continue to execute our growth strategy."

In recognition of his accomplishments, Dunbar was named "Chief Information Officer of the Year" in 2003 by InformationWeek and one of 2002`s "20 Young Executives You Need to Know" by Business 2.0.

Dunbar earned a pharmacy degree in 1982 and a master of business administration degree from Manchester University in the UK. He is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and serves on the board of the Executive Leadership Council Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting the development of African-American corporate leaders.
