EDS lands $1b in new business

EDS has announced $1 billion in new business agreements with public and private sector clients around the world. Highlights include:

A $713 million contract expansion of its technology and services relationship with the UK Government`s Employment . EDS will provide next-generation, Web-enabled systems to improve service for employers and job seekers.

A four-year agreement with General Motors to provide high performance, high- Web hosting for GM`s business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-employee (B2E) initiatives worldwide.

A seven-year, $102 million contract with the State of Oklahoma under which EDS will introduce a new Medicaid Management Information System with a Web-based interface.

An eight-year, $92 million contract with the State of Colorado to develop, implement and operate a Web-enabled system to manage the state`s eligibility determination for human services and health care programs.

"These announcements build on EDS` already strong momentum, and further demonstrate the breadth and depth of our service offerings to help clients succeed in the digital economy," said Dick Brown, EDS chairman and CEO.

At 9 a.m. PST in Las Vegas last Wednesday, Brown made history by becoming the first information technology services leader to deliver a keynote address at COMDEX/Fall. In that speech, Brown outlined a set of imperatives for success in the digital economy and discuss a number of service offerings built around those imperatives.
