Johannesburg, 18 Nov 2003

EDS has announced the extension of its 20-year business relationship with National Credit Card Centre (NCCC) of Taiwan with a new five-year contract. Under the agreement, EDS will continue to provide technology support and applications development services to manage NCCC`s credit card system.

NCCC`s EDS-designed credit card system is an end-to-end card processing solution that includes cardholders/merchant management, online authorisation, settlement management, a front-end switching solution, and report processing. The system coupled with IT support from EDS has enabled NCCC to increase its ability to process credit card transactions by 35%.

"During the past 20 years, NCCC and EDS have worked side by side to develop and create the leading credit card processing system in Taiwan. It is this dedication, commitment to our business needs, and their focus on delivering tangible results that made our decision to extend our relationship with EDS an easy one," said Felix KH Ong, president, NCCC.

"This partnership has allowed us to deliver unmatched benefits and value to our clients, and our clients` customers including faster transaction times, enhanced customer service, improved security and increased our time to market with innovative products that are helping to define the industry in Taiwan. We look forward to further tapping EDS`s financial services expertise to create even more value and benefits for our customers in the future."

By extending its contract with EDS, NCCC will continue to offer a wide range of advanced integrated credit card services at cost-effective rates. The contract also enables NCCC to take advantage of new technologies and processes that increase efficiency and allow it to deliver new products and services to customers.

"EDS is honoured by NCCC`s trust in our ability to deliver results," said Richard Shieh, general manager, EDS Taiwan. "We remain dedicated to providing the highest levels of service and to delivering best in class solutions that will allow NCCC to retain its leadership position in this evolving marketplace.

NCCC

In 1983, the Ministry of Finance decided to organise the centre as a foundation rather than as a corporate organisation. A total of NT$66 million to begin the foundation was raised in donations from participating institutions including China Investment & Trust, the International Commercial Bank of China, Cathy Investment and Trust Company, the Central Trust of China, Taipei City Bank, Asia Trust and Investment Corporation, and the Overseas Trust Corporation. In 1988, government reforms expanded the functions of the credit cards in Taiwan and the name of the centre was changed to "National Credit Card Centre", or NCCC. NCCC is Taiwan`s largest card processing centre and is dedicated to further enhancing credit card functionality and services through the application of new technologies.
