EDS renews IT services contracts with existing clients

Agreements highlight EDS` strength in client service

EDS has announced information technology (IT) services contract renewals and add-on agreements with existing clients in the consumer and manufacturing industries. The agreements highlight EDS` leadership and momentum in these industries and commitment to excellent client service.

The contracts announced today were signed in the fourth quarter of 2002 and will be included in the total for fourth quarter business signings to be announced along with the company`s annual results on February 6. Today`s announcements, financial terms of which were not disclosed:

* A contract with Guthy-Renker, one of the world`s largest direct response television companies, for customer relationship management (CRM) services including order and payment processing, fulfilment and distribution for its consumer sales. EDS has helped drive down shipping costs for the retailer and consistently works to support Guthy-Renker`s drive to innovate its supply chain.

* A 32-month contract with Brazil-based Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD), one of the world`s largest iron ore companies. EDS will be responsible for infrastructure operations including mainframe, midrange and distributed platforms for several of CVRD`s locations around Brazil, providing support from the company`s data centre in Vitoria, Brazil, and monitoring through EDS` Service Management Centre in S~ao Bernardo do Campo, S~ao Paulo, Brazil.

Focused on client service

The contracts announced today reflect EDS` enterprise-wide commitment to client service. In the second half of 2002, 72 clients elevated their rating of EDS to the highest level on EDS` Service Excellence Dashboard, a Web-based tool through which clients provide direct, real-time feedback on account performance.

Service Excellence Cup

Separately, EDS also today announced the company will award the EDS Service Excellence Cup to the client and EDS client care team achieving the highest client service ratings in 2003. The new award is designed to recognise the success of EDS` clients and client care teams committed to supporting them.

The company will select the winning client-EDS team from among five finalists whose collaboration resulted in improved productivity and performance for the client. The winning team will be awarded a travelling Service Excellence Cup to be displayed at the client`s offices in 2004 as a way to highlight both the team`s efforts and the client`s success.
