EDS, the world`s most experienced outsourcing services company, today announced the company was selected as a service provider for the General Services Administration (GSA) eTravel contract. The selection allows EDS to compete for task orders to provide travel services to government agencies under the 10-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract.
EDS and its teaming partners (Zegato Solutions Inc, of Lanham, Maryland, and The MIL Corp of Bowie, Maryland) offer a wholly-owned, hosted and operated solution called FedTraveler.com that will provide services using a transactional-based pricing model.
The centrepiece of EDS`s FedTraveler.com solution is a proven end-to-end travel management service provided by Zegato that permits agencies to perform an array of travel management activities online while following federal travel regulations and procedures. Travel management functions include travel planning and cost estimating, travel authorisation, booking of reservations, filing, processing, and approval of official travel claim, data reporting and fulfilment services.
The service already is deployed in several federal agencies including the Department of Veterans` Affairs, US Marshals Service and International Trade Commission.
To facilitate exchange of travel and financial data between FedTraveler.com and federal agency information systems, EDS will use the integration capabilities of SeeBeyond Technology Corp of Monrovia, California. "We are pleased that EDS and its partners will now be able to offer our proven travel solution to government agencies," said Al Edmonds, vice-president of Global Sales and Client Solutions - US government.
"Agencies will now be able to realise greater traveller satisfaction, flexibility and affordability through our online travel approval, procurement, and expense management services."
