EDS to service UK`s largest brewer

Johannesburg, 27 Aug 2001

Scottish Courage, the UK`s largest brewer, is to outsource its IT infrastructure services to EDS in a 12-year, $233 million agreement. The agreement was finalised during the second quarter and was included in EDS` new contract totals for that quarter.

Under terms of the contract, EDS will provide data centres at both EDS Washington and Doxford and a data network linking 50 sites across the UK.

Desktop and support services will be provided for approximately 3 000 desktops and desktop users provided by the EDS Request Management Centre (RMC) in Peterlee. This will allow seamless, integrated service to both Scottish Courage`s internal users and business partners. In addition to this, technical support, and desktop technology refresh will be provisioned.

EDS was selected to provide improved service delivery and business support. EDS` expertise in transitioning and integrating employees was a key factor in its selection. As part of the agreement, 70 staff transferred to EDS in early July.

"Scottish Courage was looking to increase service delivery, and with EDS` long-standing commitment to service excellence, we feel that we have the level of discipline required to make the transformation they require," said Bill Thomas, EDS UK & Ireland, Managing Director.

Anne Gibson, Scottish Courage IT director, commented: "EDS` experience in service delivery and transition management, we believe, will greatly assist our business change programme."

Information System transformation is due to be completed in 12 months.
