Internationally the demand for high quality colour prints is continuing to rise. For some industry sectors, such as education and government, the cost of full colour printing is prohibitive and it is to meet the needs of these markets that Gestetner is launching its entry-level digital CopyPrinter, the 6123cp to complete its CopyPrinter offering.
Anthony Ho, product support manager at Gestetner SA, says: "In the past, organisations with limited budgets have tended to use analogue stencil duplicators or forfeit colour in their printing entirely. However, with the introduction of the 6123cp, these users now have access to a machine that not only combines quality, productivity and hassle-free maintenance, but more importantly, is cost-effective.
"It is therefore ideal for organisations that require spot colour and regularly print high volumes - between 100 and 10 000 copies in a single print run, such as junior schools, municipal government offices and church groups.
"As the 6123cp is a digital device, it comes equipped with a number of features not previously available on entry-level machines such as the ability to connect the CopyPrinter to a PC. This enables users to print directly from original images generated on a computer. Another feature the new 6123cp comes equipped with is the ability to edit images by using the `enlarge`, `reduce` and `combine originals` tools. Both of these features ensure better quality copies as they are being produced from an original document rather than from a second-generation copy," says Ho.
Perhaps an even more significant benefit of this product is that organisations will have access to 11 possible spot colours due to the advanced drum changing design and the cheaper cost of Gestetner SA`s locally manufactured inks.
"Gestetner has done away with the need for the expensive films, plates and wash up that the electronic stencil duplicator required. It only takes a few seconds for colour drums to be taken out and replaced and the whole process is a lot cleaner and easier than it used to be as it is a fully automatic system," says Ho.
In this increasingly competitive print market, the ability to offer high quality, speedy and cost-effective prints with the added benefit of colour is vital. "The 6123cp gives cost-conscious sectors, like education and government, access to high quality colour prints at a competitive price," concludes Ho.
