Education departments turn to Oc'e

Education departments around South Africa are turning to Oc'e for their printing requirements. "Our state-of-the-art range of Oc'e printing systems has started to make inroads into the schooling system with its ever increasing copy volumes," says Errol van Battum of Oc'e South Africa's digital document systems.

He says: "Particularly at schools in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, the Oc'e 3165 has become an ideal replacement for the older type of duplicating machines traditionally utilised by schools. Oc'e technology is moving South Africa's primary and secondary schools into the digital age."

A school print room can be a pressurised environment. Learners and members of the faculty alike want their documents reproduced quickly and properly.

School print room operators are finding the ease of use and reliability of the Oc'e 3165 key to their workflow and in meeting their deadlines. The Oc'e 3165 represents the latest Oc'e technology. The result - a productive, high-speed digital workhorse that offers ease of use, short turnaround times and versatility to centralised printing environments.

Mailbox functionality allows secretaries and teachers to send their print jobs over the network to be printed either immediately or at a later time.

The unique Oc'e Copy Press system allows for a very low fusing temperature and a very short paper path, which minimises paper jams. With the mono component toner, print quality is optimised to the full. Oc'e Copy Press image transfer technology ensures a perfect copy or print every time. At the heart of every Oc'e-developed copier and printer, the proprietary Oc'e Copy Press system is the only real alternative to xerography.

One-pass duplexing eliminates the need for an auxiliary duplexing tray. In an Oc'e copier or printer, double-sided copies are produced in one pass through the machine, whereby the second image is copied onto the rear of the page directly after the first image is copied onto the front. The use of an auxiliary tray restricts the amount of double-sided copies available and is particularly susceptible to static build up on the copy pages with subsequent paper jams and time and paper wastage. This is a limiting feature in many copiers but not with Oc'e copiers. Making double-sided copies is as easy and reliable as making single-sided copies. So there is less waste, less time lost and costs are reduced.

Oc'e Image Logic image processing technology scans and converts hard copy information into a digital format. The result is easier, faster and more reliable copying from every original, even with combined text and photographs and at full engine speed. Oc'e Image Logic technology automatically optimises all scans and/or copies for a perfect reproduction of text, photos and fine drawings. With this software, perfect scans and copies can be made in a very productive way, without the need for any user interference.

The Oc'e 3165 engine is guaranteed for 20 million images and at 62 pages per minute is capable of doing between 400 000 and 500 000 prints per month. Van Battum points out: "We have machines in the field that have done over 40 million prints. One can safely say that these machines are still printing long after the last bell has rung."
