ITWeb Virtualisation and Cloud Computing Summit 2012
In today's cut-throat business environment, it is essential to innovate in order to remain competitive. One such innovation is adopting cloud services in order to realise efficient service and performance. ITWeb's Virtualisation and Cloud Computing Summit takes place from 17 to 19 July 2012. Organisations need to educate themselves about the various cloud computing solutions available, as this will allow them to gauge the benefits within the environment in which they operate.
This is according to Deloitte & Touche director Shamalan Soobiah, who illustrates this using an example of the pros and cons of a private cloud. An advantage of a private cloud solution is that costs are significantly lower, as organisations only pay for what they need. A disadvantage of this type of cloud is that, because the entire stack is not controlled by the organisation, there is a lock-in risk factor that needs to be considered.
Soobiah is a speaker at ITWeb's Virtualisation and Cloud Computing Summit, which takes place from 17 to 19 July. At the event, he will discuss enterprise mobility as a business enabler by highlighting the areas to be mindful of when looking at mobility coupled with a cloud strategy. He will also touch on digital identities across clouds, including the benefits of a single view of a user.
Other areas of his presentation include how to plan for the cloud, as well as contingency thinking for when the cloud goes bad.
Other speakers at the event include Sun International CIO Thabo Ndlela, Frost and Sullivan ICT analyst Ishe Zingoni and Werksmans Attorneys director Tammy Bortz.
