Electrolux Group selects Cognos Series 7 as global BI standard

Johannesburg, 16 May 2002

The Electrolux Group, global producer of powered appliances for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use, has selected leading business intelligence (BI) company Cognos for its BI standard with the implementation of Cognos` Series 7, its enterprise-class BI solution that offers reporting, analysis, ad hoc query, scorecarding, visualisation and data mart creation.

This agreement was won in a competitive bid against several other vendors, including Business Objects. The deal will see Electrolux employees across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US gaining access to the Cognos Series 7 framework to report and analyse data across all business divisions including, sales, marketing, finance and manufacturing.

Cognos enables Electrolux to access and analyse critical key performance indicators, (KPIs) giving business managers the holistic view of the business they need to better manage corporate performance.

"Cognos is pleased to be working with the Electrolux Group, providing it with an end-to-end BI solution designed specifically to manage the corporate performance of its enterprise," says Dave Laverty, senior vice president of global marketing at Cognos.

"As leaders in our respective industries, we see tremendous opportunities for both companies as a result of this partnership."
