Retail Automation part of Elexir Technology Holdings Ltd, listed on the Electronics and Electrical sector of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, has announced today a closing of a distribution deal with Ortm e Business Solutions, a UK- based software distributor for their electronic Point-of-Sale (EPOS) software, QuickTill.
"The international IT market provides a huge opportunity for our locally developed software; not only are the pricing of our software more competitive, but it also compares favourably in as far as functionality is concerned," says Elexir Technology Holdings Ltd chairman, Seshi Chonco.
Elexir is positioning itself as a leading international software house with niche products and services, accessing the most advanced technology. By identifying reputable international distributors Elexir is able to break into the international market and ultimately grow the group`s offshore earnings.
Retail Automation started QuickTill in 1989 and its success is evident by its growing list of just under 500 local clients with over 2000 installed units operating across a broad range of retail disciplines.
Through Ortm, Elexir has established their first UK dealership. The Ortm contract will ensure QuickTill`s distribution into the UK markets through the assignment of other dealers in the major centres. The first thereof, Intralia Ltd, has already been appointed. Sales leads have already been generated in the UK among market leaders in the convenience, cash and carry, cellular and clothing industries.
"QuickTill is a P/C-based system which is compatible with most modern Point-of-Sale hardware that operates on the standard P/C platform, including a variety of peripherals such as scanners and electronic weighing devices," says Chonco, "It is not simply an EPOS system, it is a complete retailing environment, combining all the normal point of sale functions with a host of merchandising tools and management reporting facilities."
QuickTill version 4 is Retail Automation`s latest release of the popular and well-trusted suite of Retail systems, and is the result of years of experience in providing EPOS solutions to a variety of retail disciplines, from small owner traders, to large groups with multiple outlets. Its successful roll out is evident in the installation of 184 Bergers Clothing stores over a period of six weeks. Other significant contracts won include Levi Strauss, the Vodac cellular shops, the Health and Racquet Club, CCW Wholesalers, Elco Trading (Pty) Ltd and all stores within the Bushy Retail Group.
"In line with our development strategy of continually enhancing the product," says Chonco, "Plans are afoot to integrate the Sybase SQL server engine into QuickTill."
The continued expansion of Elexir`s software activities, both locally and globally, will be the principle focus for the group in the forthcoming year.
The group has expanded its operating base in the greater Johannesburg as well as in Cape Town. Plans are afoot to establish operations in the Port Elizabeth, Durban and Bloemfontein regions, which have been identified as areas of potential growth.
