Enterprise database administration is a complex and time-consuming task that cannot be accomplished without the help of well designed tools to monitor and identify problem and potential problem areas.
In line with this reality and in keeping with its goal of providing application and database lifecycle management solutions, Embarcadero Africa has announced Embarcadero DBArtisan 7.2.0, the latest iteration of its database administration solution. DBArtisan enables database administrators (DBAs) concurrently to manage multiple databases from a single graphical console, delivering productivity gains for both experienced and novice database professionals.
DBArtisan 7.2.0, is a cross-platform solution providing enhancements that accommodate the latest feature offerings from Oracle, DB2, SQL Server and Sybase. Its new "DBA-in-mind" features allow user-defined explorer bookmarks, keyboard hotkeys and multiple editor emulation modes that have been built into the user interface, helping to reduce time spent on the most common day-to-day administration tasks.
To ease the workload on DBAs, Embarcadero has also announced a new line of products that work in conjunction with DBArtisan. The three products: Embarcadero Space Analyst, Performance Analyst and Capacity Analyst, are available with the latest version of DBArtisan, but will initially support only the Oracle platform. Additional database support is due in subsequent releases.

Embarcadero Space Analyst provides diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot bottlenecks and performance problems that result from poor space management, ensuring optimal utilisation of database storage. A wizard-driven smart reorganisation utility handles full storage structure and object reorganisation needs.
Running inside the DBArtisan console or within a Web browser, Embarcadero Performance Analyst helps DBAs pinpoint performance problems that threaten a database`s availability or response times. It provides key performance metrics, bottleneck analysis, workload and SQL execution statistics and user-configurable thresholds.
Embarcadero Capacity Analyst offers intelligent insight into the past, current and future inner workings of a database. By collecting historical database and performance metrics at user-defined intervals, Capacity Analyst provides historical trend analysis along with smart forecasting abilities that allow DBAs to plan for the future needs of their key databases.
