Embarcadero Technologies Africa has announced the local availability of DBArtisan Workbench for managing complex databases across the enterprise to achieve higher availability, performance and security.
DBArtisan Workbench combines Embarcadero`s flagship database management solution, DBArtisan, with the company`s SQL Debugger, SQL Profiler for Oracle and the recently released Analyst products, which provide enhanced capabilities for storage and performance management.
The need for this comprehensive solution arose from the increasing complexity and proliferation of enterprise database environments, along with growing pressure on database professionals to keep their systems performing optimally and cost-effectively at all times.
Standardising on DBArtisan Workbench enables companies proactively to improve cross-platform database management from a single console, resulting in efficient allocation of IT resources, smoother implementations and greater application uptime.
Alan Raubenheimer, MD of Embarcadero Africa, comments: "The corporate database is the backbone of the IT environment. Today, more than ever, companies have no tolerance for poorly running databases. Accordingly, they need a robust management solution to ensure high performance and security while keeping costs low. DBArtisan Workbench meets those needs by providing management and planning capabilities that optimise database operations and deliver business value in the form of lower costs and increased efficiency."
DBArtisan Workbench offers comprehensive administration by combining the following Embarcadero products:
* Space Analyst: Providing diagnostic and reorganisation capabilities to resolve database storage bottlenecks.
* Capacity Analyst: Offering intelligent utilities to track database usage, perform trend analysis and forecast future database needs.
* Performance Analyst: Pinpointing performance problems that threaten a database`s availability or response time. The Analyst components will initially support for Oracle, with SQL Server support planned for later this year and DB2 and Sybase thereafter.
* DBArtisan 7.2: Concurrently managing multiple databases, including Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2, from a single graphical console.
* SQL Debugger: Offering one-click debugging of cross-platform programmable objects as they are executed in the database.
* SQL Profiler for Oracle: Historically analysing and optimising PL/SQL code.
"Today`s database administrators are under unprecedented pressure, with budgets having been slashed and the business still demanding the highest imaginable level of uptime, availability and performance. This new solution is designed to address precisely this dichotomy," adds Raubenheimer.
