Embarcadero has launched solution packs aimed at solving cross-platform design, programming and administration tasks across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and IBM DB2 UDB databases.
There are five packs that cater to the database and application management lifecycle: Standard Edition, Administer Edition, Developer Edition, Tuner Edition and Modelling Edition.
"The packs offer complete, cost-effective solutions for busy professionals and do away with the need to shop around looking for bespoke applications," says Alan Raubenheimer, CEO of Embarcadero Africa.
Standard Edition is a core set of database tools - ER/Studio, DBArtisan and Rapid SQL. The pack allows the user to automate the design, development and administration of critical databases. The Administer Edition pack includes DBArtisan, Change Manager and ER/Studio. Developer Edition is an all-in-one solution for database developers and offers Rapid SQL, Change Manager and ER/Studio.
The Tuner Edition for Oracle improves performance of all databases using Embarcadero SQL Profiler and Embarcadero SQL Debugger, combined with the SQL tuning of Embarcadero SQL Tuner.

DBArtisan flattens the learning curve associated with consolidating, integrating and managing database infrastructure.
Embarcadero Change Manager addresses change control in an environment where complex dependencies can result in unanticipated cascading changes causing errors and application outages. It allows users to capture, version, compare and propagate database schemas as they change over time, thereby eliminating the need for error-prone manual processes.
ER/Studio produces blueprints of databases and data warehouses for better team collaboration and helps build quality into designs because it automatically enforces sound database principles.
Rapid SQL contains extensive code templates that eliminate the need to memorise and type SQL syntax, and its graphical browsing capabilities allow users to understand the structure and dependencies of database objects.
Describe allows users to create software application blueprints, providing a clearer roadmap for implementation and a shorter learning curve for each developer. Because code and UML (unified modelling language) models are always in sync, Describe speeds up the developer`s job by providing a tool that enables navigation and manipulation of code directly from the diagram. All of Describe`s functionality can be accessed from within your choice of IDEs, seamlessly bringing application design and development together.
Embarcadero SQL Debugger removes the guesswork from troubleshooting database logic errors, allowing users to determine whether or not the database logic functions properly by stepping through the execution of code to pinpoint the source of any errors.
Embarcadero SQL Profiler identifies performance bottlenecks and presents the information in a drill-down format that makes it easy to correct code problems. It allows users to start and stop profiling sessions with a single click, and store these sessions for reference.
Embarcadero SQL Tuner offers facilities for analysing and optimising databases. As a result, even novice database administrators and developers can write SQL code.
