Embarcadero soars up rankings in DM Review 100

Johannesburg, 10 Nov 2003

Embarcadero Technologies has climbed 17 places in the annual DM Review 100, a survey based on the results of a product usage and vendor rating survey of readers conducted over the Web by The Gantry Group.

Embarcadero has climbed from number 39 to 22, making it one of the emerging stars in the market.

"Embarcadero has emerged as one of the new leaders in business intelligence due to its focus on high functionality and relatively low cost," says Alan Raubenheimer, MD of Embarcadero Africa. "Customers are tired of paying disproportionate prices for products that fall short of their promise. By addressing this disconnect, Embarcadero has taken significant market share, as reflected in its surge to number 22 on the DM Review 100."

Survey respondents were presented with a questionnaire that examined more than 225 vendors in nine product categories. Respondents were asked to rank on a scale of one to four (one = poor, four = excellent) each vendor whose products are in use in their organisations in each of the nine categories.

Respondents were also asked to rank each vendor for overall and satisfaction.

Embarcadero`s key business intelligence offering is DT/Studio, its extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) solution, which has taken significant market share through is combination of flexibility, usability and scalability.

Further validation of Embarcadero`s vision has come from Gartner, which has recognised the company as a Challenger in its latest Magic Quadrant report.

"The common misconception is that ETL software use is limited to populating complex data warehouses," adds Raubenheimer. "Data warehousing was considered to be the only project large enough to justify the budget needed for an ETL application. However, ETL tools provide value in a number of data integration projects, such as application integration and data migration.

"With DT/Studio, Embarcadero brings the power of ETL to a price level where decision-makers can easily implement ETL in a variety of projects with immediate benefits of increased efficiency and speed to project completion.

"With this in mind, Embarcadero should continue to climb up the rankings of surveys such as this from DM Review."
