EMC has named Kristian Thyregod as distribution director for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) channel.

Thyregod will be responsible for further streamlining, optimising and driving EMC`s business through distributors in EMEA.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Thyregod is selecting a team that will focus on building EMC`s distribution and enabling EMC`s community of tier two resellers through EMC`s Velocity2 Partner Programme, which was announced in July.

The company says Thyregod brings a wealth of experience from the distribution business. "He joins EMC from Fours Leaf/Logix, where he was executive vice-president for sales and marketing. In this position, Kristian managed the company`s business in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

"Previous to this, Kristian was vice-president for product marketing at IBM. He began his sales and marketing career in Copenhagen, Denmark, working for Ingram Micro - and then moved to the UK and onto the US working for Navision and Olicom," the company said in a statement.

"Kristian has an extensive background in developing strategic plans and managing sales programmes. His previous experience within EMEA distributor Fours Leaf/Logix will provide EMC with a real insight into what distributors require from a partner programme," said Willem Hendrickx, EMEA VP, channel and mid-market at EMC.
