EMC appoints new distribution director for EMEA

Johannesburg, 13 Dec 2007

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure, today announced that Kristian Thyregod has been appointed as Distribution Director for EMC`s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) channel.

Thyregod will be responsible for further streamlining, optimising and driving EMC`s business through distributors in EMEA.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Thyregod is currently in the process of selecting a team that will focus on building EMC`s distribution network and enabling EMC`s community of "Tier Two" resellers through EMC`s new Velocity^2 Partner Programme, which was announced in July this year.

Thyregod brings with him a wealth of experience from the distribution business. He joins EMC from Fours Leaf/LOGIX, where he was Executive Vice-President for Sales and Marketing.

In this position, Thyregod managed the company`s business in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Previous to this, Thyregod was Vice-President for Product Marketing at IBM Corporation. He began his sales and marketing career in Copenhagen, Denmark working for Ingram Micro - and then moved to the United Kingdom and onto the United States working for Navision Software and Olicom Inc.

"Kristian has an extensive background in developing strategic plans and managing sales programmes. His previous experience within EMEA distributor Fours Leaf/LOGIX will provide EMC with a real insight into what distributors require from a partner programme," said Willem Hendrickx, EMEA Vice-President of Channel and Mid-market at EMC.

"As EMC evolves, our reach will further extend into the new markets that require an extensive distribution network for volume products. Kristian is very well respected among the EMEA distribution community and is experienced in volume distribution strategy. We welcome Kristian to the EMEA channel team at such an exciting time and look forward to working with him in making the Velocity^2 Partner Programme an even bigger success in 2008."
