E-business infrastructure developers EMC Corporation, Cisco Systems and Oracle Corporation have announced the second major expansion of their ECOstructure (EMC/Cisco/Oracle Infrastructure) initiative with the unveiling of a new blueprint, entitled Accelerated.
Accelerated will enable organisations to deploy standard configurations for optimised information access. This blueprint is the latest effort by the three companies to reduce complexity and ease implementations of their joint e-business solutions for customers. In addition, approved solution providers will now be able to incorporate ECOstructure best practices into their offerings.
Accelerated incorporates technologies from all three companies. Utilising a combination of static and dynamic content caching, storage area networking (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS), the blueprint details integrated best practices and optimised configurations to deliver fast, secure and reliable access for growing Web environments.
As part of the expanded initiative, additional companies, including a range of solution providers, will be able to offer value-added solutions and services based on the best practices of the ECOstructure architectures. These solutions include enterprise systems integration, managed hosting services and architectural overlays that further help customers speed, simplify and improve the deployment of ECOstructure blueprints. Solution providers will have access to marketing and technical resources to assist with the development and deployment of solutions based on the various blueprints.
One of the solution providers, Oracle Consulting, is training consultants to deliver ECOstructure-based solutions to clients around the globe. "On this secure and scalable e-business foundation we can deploy an unlimited variety of services that can increase our customers` revenue and reduce their costs. The ECOstructure blueprints are based on EMC`s Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems and software, EMC Connectrix Fibre Channel switches and EMC Celerra Network File Servers; the Cisco 7000 Series routers, Catalyst 6000 family switches, Cisco Content Services Switches, Cisco Content Engines, Cisco Secure PIX firewall and the Cisco Secure Intrusion Detection System; and the Oracle database and Oracle9i Application Server.
