EMC has introduced programmes to help partners accelerate their customers' journeys to cloud computing.
This is according to Jeremy Burton, EMC executive VP and chief marketing officer, who spoke at the company's Global Partners Summit, which took place in Las Vegas, on Sunday, ahead of the EMC World Conference.
The programmes include the EMC Cloud Builder Practice and the EMC Cloud Provider Practice.
Burton explained that the Cloud Builder Practice lets partners design, build and manage cloud infrastructures based on EMC technology, while the Cloud Provider Practice enables EMC Velocity Solution Provider partners to design, build and operate IT as a service cloud offerings based on EMC technology.
Channel exclusives
According to Burton, EMC has made some of its offerings available exclusively through its channel partners, as part of the company's commitment over the past few years to transform itself into a channel-friendly technology provider.
Burton said the decision to offer solutions exclusively through the channel was first taken with VNXe, a series of unified storage systems, which was rolled out 18 months ago, and most recently with the DD160, a deduplication storage system for small enterprise data centres and remote offices.
Burton added that the company has designed other solutions with the channel in mind. These include VMAX Service Provider, an offering for service providers that are providing infrastructure as a service to their customers, and VSPEX [virtual system specifications], an extension of the company's VBlock data centre system.
According to Burton, VSPEX is not a single product, but is rather a blueprint that its channel partners can use to create storage solutions for their customers, depending on the use case that these customers have in mind.
