EMC and the Lotus Formula One (F1) Team celebrated their technology partnership with the unveiling of the new EMC VNX5400 Lotus Team F1 Limited Edition arrays.

The unified storage system was introduced by EMC during its Speed2Lead event in Milan this week. EMC says the system was inspired by F1 performance. The special-edition arrays sport the emblem of the company's favourite racing team.

VNX5400 unified storage systems use flash to accelerate application performance and drive down the cost of ownership, according to EMC. Multi-core optimisation, MCx, enables four times more transactions than earlier-generation systems, it adds.

EMC describes cloud computing and virtualisation as game changers. To be competitive, businesses must transform, the company notes, adding that VNX5400 will enable the Lotus team to optimise virtualised applications, supercharge backup and transform its IT infrastructure to gain the speed to lead.

It also notes that organisations are aggressively transforming their IT infrastructures by adopting virtualisation technology and cloud computing models. This enables them to be more agile, while also operating more efficiently.
