EMC named 13th best multinational workplace in Europe

EMC has announced it has been named the 13th Best Multinational Workplace in Europe by Great Place to Work, the expert in workplace excellence.

EMC's ranking was announced at the Great Place to Work's 'Best Workplaces in Europe 2013' award ceremony, which recently took place in Dublin. EMC was the fifth highest ranking large company from the technology sector to make the list, and climbed six places from last year's benchmark.

EMC achieved excellent results across Europe, ranking in 11 countries in total, as well as achieving placement in the UAE. This was a great improvement on 2012 and highlights EMC's commitment to the GPTW initiative, having increased the number of countries participating in the benchmark from five to 12.

This year, the Spanish office was placed the highest of any EMC operation in Europe, being named as the top workplace in Spain in the important 250-500 employee category. With this placement, EMC Spain is the only IT sector organisation that leads an award category [1].

The top four placements achieved by EMC offices in Europe were:

* Spain - 1st (first-time participant)
* Turkey - 4th (first-time participant)
* Switzerland - 6th (first-time participant)
* Poland * 6th

Impressively, seven of the 12 results for EMC to receive GPTW rankings were first-time entrants, and five of those made it into the top 12 companies in their country. Across the region, EMC achieved the best results in the categories of fairness and pride, being able to demonstrate that it treats all employees fairly and its employees are proud to give something extra to the company. Overall, 87% of employees at EMC's EMEA operations said it is a great place to work; with 83% willing to recommend the company as an employer.

The annual benchmarking study celebrates businesses operating in Europe that have demonstrated exceptional levels of respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within their organisations. Businesses are judged on the basis of Great Place to Work's confidential Trust Index survey of employees as well as audits of HR and management processes across their European operations. This includes an analysis of how EMC's work practices compare to other multinational companies in areas including inspiring, developing, speaking, listening, celebrating, thanking, caring, sharing and hiring.
