
EMC Southern Africa has appointed Servaas Venter as country manager with effect from 1 December 2012.
The company says Venter has fulfilled the role in an acting capacity since August 2012, adding that he joined EMC as a senior account manager in 2000, when he took on responsibility for financial services accounts including Absa, Nedbank and Standard Bank.
In 2007, he was promoted to district manager, managing a team of 10 sales staff and addressing the local enterprise market sector. Venter was promoted to area manager in July 2010. In this capacity, he was responsible for EMC's overall sales in SA and also held cross-functional responsibility for channel and global services.
As country manager, the storage solutions company says, Venter is responsible for EMC's overall performance and strategy in the Southern African region. Marketing, channel, HR and financial operations reporting lines have been added to his existing responsibilities, it adds.

"In addition, we will develop our talent pool to not only continuously improve, but also deliver on the company's expectations. We will grow EMC's market leadership locally and ensure that EMC acquires new accounts by executing our go-to-market strategy.

Prior to joining EMC, Venter managed various accounts in the telco and media sectors for IBM. He holds an Electronic diploma from the Vaal University of Technology.
