EMC unites channel programmes at first software partner conference

More than 500 resellers and integrators learn about EMC`s information lifecycle management software; expanded Velocity channel programme makes it easier for partners to offer EMC software, hardware and services
Las Vegas, 12 Jan 2005

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today kicked off its first-ever software channel partner conference with more than 500 resellers, distributors and systems integrators attending the event.

The conference is designed to provide partners who previously offered technology only from EMC, Legato or Documentum with a comprehensive set of sales education tools, product training and technical expertise that enable them to offer a broader and more lucrative set of EMC storage, information and content management solutions to customers of all sizes.

EMC also today announced it will unify existing channel programmes from Legato and Documentum into a single, global and comprehensive EMC Velocity Channel Partner programme, which will provide all partners, regardless of size, with comprehensive training, incentives and rewards.

David DeWalt, executive vice-president of EMC Software, said: "With the most comprehensive set of information, storage and content management software in the industry, partners are eager to offer EMC`s host of information lifecycle management software. The tremendous response in attendance and participation at the conference is further proof of EMC`s leadership and its ongoing commitment to the channel. When the expertise of our diverse group of partners is combined under a single Velocity Programme, customers of all sizes, in all industries around the world, will be able to more effectively reduce the cost and complexity of managing, sharing and protecting information across the entire lifecycle."

At the conference, EMC software channel partners are being provided with the necessary information on becoming a part of EMC`s highly successful Velocity Partner Programme, which will take effect in April. The new, consolidated EMC Velocity Partner Programme will combine the EMC, Legato and Documentum channel programmes - for solution providers, software-only partners, technology partners and services partners - into a single, global programme, with a single set of systems and processes.

Designed to enable and reward solution selling, the enhanced EMC Velocity Partner Programme will provide market and product-specific tools, support and resources to help members leverage EMC`s information lifecycle management leadership in order to grow business and serve their target markets, whether it is the large enterprise or small to midsize business. The VMWare partner programme remains unchanged and separate.

John Koury, EMC vice-president of channel marketing, said: "We want to make it easy for partners to do business with EMC. The consistent feedback from our reseller community was the need for a single, consistent programme that allowed them to offer all of EMC`s storage, information and content software together with our tiered storage platforms. We have the leading technology and we are building a leading channel partner programme that will benefit our partners, EMC, and most importantly, our customers."
