Emerald Safari Resort and Casino intends to improve customer service levels and simplify operational management with the installation of a centralised, high-end network.
I-Fusion won the tender to design and install a high-end network comprising 3ComSuperstack S4900 and Superstack 3300 switches, Krone Highband cabling and extensive fibre optic components. In an area covering approximately 17 hectares, the network connects the entire infrastructure of the resort at Gigabit speeds, including the Emerald Casino, welcome centre, chalets, hotel, Aquadome, the Cape of Good Hope retail centre, a Moroccan-style souk (market), the Emerald Zoo and Sports Hall.
Jaco Venter, IT manager at the Emerald Safari Resort, says the network has enabled the gaming and resort group to centralise control of the entire IT infrastructure into one location.
"I-Fusion designed the network for maximum efficiency and ease of management. We can now manage the hotel booking and reservation system from anywhere on the network - enabling us to provide faster and more accurate information to callers and visitors. All data from the retail terminals is centralised and can easily be accessed and allocated to a guest`s individual account. The resort also runs a Club Card member system whereby guests can accumulate redeemable points and take part in promotions - this data will be managed more efficiently, resulting in improved feedback and service levels."
Dennis Southee, account manager at I-Fusion, adds: "The network was designed with future growth and expansion in mind. It is the most cost-effective and scaleable option for the resort and is completely compatible with the various systems running throughout the facility - these include a Microsoft Office environment, as well as a hotel reservation and point of sale system."
