Emergency remote access solution
Network Defence is enabling non-remote employees to work quickly and securely from any location with the AppGate in case of emergency (ICE) licence, reports Security Park.
The remote access solution helps companies avoid the cost of staff absenteeism and maintain effective business operations in case of emergency situations.
The solution, which is based on an AppGate remote access platform with an ICE licence, provides businesses with an easy to deploy, secure remote working solution, enabling staff who are not set up with remote access facilities to access company data and applications from any location in the event they are unable to travel to or work at the office.
SMEs' business continuity plans poor
Almost half of small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have no business continuity plan or only have a very rough plan in place, the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) has revealed, states Small Business News.
Research by BIBA found that 45% of small businesses don't have a continuity plan, or only a rough version. It also highlighted that 80% of businesses suffering a major incident close down within 18 months.
BIBA has called on the government to ensure that all businesses have continuity plans in place in case of major incidents, such as flooding, severe weather conditions, a terrorist attack or a pandemic such as swine flu.
BakBone combines replication, recovery
BakBone is embedding replication into its NVFR v4 product to provide disaster recovery capability, says TheRegister.
BakBone's NVFR, or NetVault: FastRecover, stores changed blocks from a Windows file system, Exchange server or SQL Server on a disc-based system, and can recover the server in what appears to be 30 seconds.
It does this by first recovering shell files needed to restart the server app, and then recovering the bulk data to a consistent state at any point in time.
