Emprise takes majority stake in EDCO Group

Emprise, a German ERP solutions provider, has expanded into SA with the acquisition of a majority share of the EDCO Group, a supplier of e-business solutions and services with headquarters in Pretoria and New Jersey, US.

Emprise says it aims to become one of the world`s largest forces in integrated solutions between ERP systems and the .

Established in 1994, the Emprise group`s offerings focus on SAP, systems integration, and customisation of integrated solutions for e-business and e-commerce.

The company believes the investment will allow it to consolidate its Internet technologies and e-business offerings with SAP, citing deciding factors such as EDCO`s Internet integration knowledge base, and its Web-based leasing, automotive online, logistic and fulfilment solutions.

According to Gerd Nicklisch, founder and CEO of Emprise, these solutions are now being customised to fit European markets.

"With our recent investment in the EDCO Group, we are pursuing our of internationalising Emprise. The EDCO Group is a world leader in the field of combined Internet/ERP solutions. The fact that we are able to acquire the majority interest of the group allowed us to add an important to our portfolio of e-commerce solutions, which is indispensable for an Internet technology and integration provider."

Jaco van Eeden, founder and co-CEO of the EDCO Group, says top on the company`s plans for SA is the introduction of a new e-commerce model with a national infrastructure based on taking technology to every town in the country, and hopefully funnelling revenue back into poorer regions through the decentralisation of economy centres.
