Encryption chip to end piracy
According to Shack News, Atari founder Nolan Bushnell claimed that a stealth encryption chip will "absolutely stop piracy of [PC] gameplay."
"There is a stealth encryption chip called a TPM that is going on the motherboards of most of the computers that are coming out now," explained Bushnell.
Bushnell suggested that though movie and music piracy will likely continue unabated, game markets made previously inaccessible due to piracy issues will begin to flourish as the chip's install base grows.
Beyond Good, Evil 2 announced
Ubisoft announced the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2 with the release of a few screens and a teaser trailer, says Snag Wire Media.
The title, a sequel to Ubisoft Montpellier's 2003 hit, will be led by series creator Michel Ancel.
The original Beyond Good and Evil featured Zelda-like action adventure gameplay in a futuristic weird world, which spawned a solid, funny and at times heavy plot.
Jake Gyllenhaal is Prince of Persia
Jake Gyllenhaal will play the title role in the upcoming Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films video game adaptation: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, says Snag Wire Media.
As with most video games turned movies, the impending hype for the Prince of Persia film will put the movie in a tight spot.
Mike Newell is directing the film that's targeted to begin production in July 2008.
