Engineering company looks to Deloitte, Verizon

-based solution developed and deployed by Verizon and Deloitte, says PRNewswire.

M&G, which relies on its global communications to link manufacturing and R&D facilities in Europe, North and South America, had already begun to reinvent how its technology could deliver better business outcomes.

Verizon's enterprise cloud platform supports the delivery of business applications, including SAP , enterprise resource planning and enterprise application integration, to 550 users around the globe, according to Telecompaper.

A group of partners, led by Verizon and Deloitte, manages the network, enabling M&G's own IT organisation to focus its attention on business programmes.

The Verizon cloud enterprise assisted M&G to have a more scalable infrastructure that enables just-in-time delivery. The company could also ensure a cost model that reflects actual usage, rather than peak traffic flow, reports infoTech.

Moreover, M&G could quantify the cost benefits. M&G is expecting the cloud will deliver a reduction of between 5% and 9 % in power consumption by the end of this year.

Recently, Verizon announced it is partnering with smart grid provider, eMeter to develop and deliver a cloud-based meter data management offering for the utility industry. The partnership will help meet utility needs for advanced smart grid solutions with built-in security, reliability and new capabilities.
