Local enterprise software specialist and distributor of DataMirror data replication, replenishment and resiliency software, Dax Data, has announced a new version of DataMirror`s high availability solution for the AS/400 platform.
Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, says High Availability Suite Version 3.5 employs byte stream file recording - a technique employed to manage the underlying Integrated File System (IFS) requirements of business applications and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. "Support for byte stream file recording means that large IFS files can now be mirrored in real-time, securing content of AS/400-based application servers and e-commerce sites, and offering 7x24 resilience," he comments.
IFS offers users support for the stream input/output and storage management common in PC and UNIX operating systems, while also providing structure for all information stored on the AS/400. This is especially beneficial for e-business implementations because many types of Web page objects are typically stored under the Integrated File System, making it a crucial and integral part of any e-business.
In addition to the performance boost offered by DataMirror`s XtremeCache technology and the synchronisation properties of its Match/Merge architecture, the High Availability Suite Version 3.5 also includes auto tuning. This is designed to automatically optimise the product to ensure maximum performance for all data and object mirroring between the primary and recovery systems. The new release also offers a number of usability enhancements, such as the ability to invoke external alarms and alerts based on conditional events.
