Enjoy cinema quality images in the comfort of your home

Johannesburg, 06 Feb 2002

Movie maniacs revelling in the magic of home cinema can now enjoy an even more powerful moving picture experience, thanks to the arrival of the next generation in home cinema projectors. So says Ben Hunt, director of Panasonic`s Office Automation and IT Systems division, announcing the addition of the Panasonic PT-AE100 to the company`s range of leading-edge projectors.

Weighing just 2.7kg, the PT-AE100 is compact and readily portable. But that`s where the lightweight features end. "The PT-AE100 features a newly-developed optical system that is unique to Panasonic, enabling the machine to project the same powerful, high-quality images associated with DVD including optimal brightness and contrast, true-to-life colour reproduction and ultra-smooth integrated images," explains Hunt. "It also includes an industry-first in the form of a widescreen, 16:9 aspect ratio LCD panel, which delivers a stunningly wide screen and superb image quality."

Infinitely more versatile than DVD, the PT-AE100 features a wide range of component connectors including video, s-video, component and PC input. "This translates into the most outstanding widescreen video experience on the market," continues Hunt. "Connect it to a game machine and experience the thrill of video games played on a big screen; connect it to a PC and appreciate the vastness of the Internet, including giant-sized video mail."

Expanding on the portability of the PT-AE100, Hunt advises that the machine has an extra-short short-throw lens capable of projecting over as short a distance as 1.2 metres (maximum 7.4 metres). This makes large screen viewing possible in the smallest of rooms. "The PT-AE100 can generate an 80" 16:9 diagonal image within just 2.5 metres," he says. "It`s quite remarkable! The new, quieter fan used in the PT-AE100 means that noise levels are significantly reduced another factor that is important when working in confined spaces."

He concludes by saying that the modern-looking, silver-finished PT-AE100 is ideal for both corporate and consumer use. "Today`s movers and shakers are looking for portability and ease-of-use without compromising projection quality. They`re also looking for durability. A built-in clock that reduces energy consumption in the PT-AE100 and effectively extends the lamp life up to 5000 hours projection at low power mode, addresses this need admirably."
