Enterasys Networks has unveiled a series of new modules for its X-Pedition series of modular Layer 3-7 routers. These modules are said to bring a variety of new technologies to Enterasys` flagship Gigabit Ethernet router, the X-Pedition ER16, to enhance the availability and performance of voice, video, data and other advanced applications across wide area networks (WAN) and local area networks (LAN).
Martin May, regional director (sub-Saharan Africa) of Enterasys Networks SA, says Enterasys now offers a full spectrum of router modules, from aggressively priced legacy technologies to the latest in Gigabit Ethernet.
"With the rising use of video conferencing, Webcasts, corporate intranets, e-commerce and other network-enabled communications, enterprises will continue to require more performance, efficiency, control, security and high-availability networking for their essential applications, whether it`s within a corporate or campus LAN, or around the world using a wide area network," he says.
"The new Enterasys` X-Pedition modules enable enterprise networks to deliver these critical network services, together with the features to support their applications, regardless of location or the technologies that they choose to deploy."
The new offerings include ATM/OC-3, WAN (HSSI), WAN (serial), FDDI and higher capacity Fast Ethernet fibre modules, each with a comprehensive set of features for security, traffic prioritisation and management.
"This type of integrated solution gives customers the option to deploy any combination of technologies needed to meet their particular needs, while still benefiting from security, high-performance, and command and control functions," adds May.
