Enterasys delivers 10Gb Intrusion Detection & Prevention System

Dragon advanced security application suite scales to deliver leading performance, reliability and effectiveness with line rate threat visibility and protection for core networks.
Johannesburg, 24 Oct 2007

Enterasys Networks today announced the Dragon 10 Gigabit Intrusion Detection and Prevention System, which leverages the company`s experience and expertise with advanced security software and ASIC-based high speed packet processing technology.

As the first and only vendor to ship a 10GigE IDS/IPS solution with total packet inspection, Enterasys can protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information without sacrificing performance on the fastest core network backbone links.

The new Dragon 10 Gigabit Intrusion Detection & Prevention System intelligently integrates with the Dragon Security Command Console for security information management and NetSight Automated Security Manager for dynamic intrusion response capabilities to proactively sense and automatically respond to security threats.

When deployed in conjunction with the Enterasys Network Access Control (NAC) solution, unique IP-to-ID mapping capabilities immediately identify, isolate and remediate the source and location of malicious network traffic in real-time.

"IDS/IPS technologies are especially useful at blocking attackers before they can cause harm - mitigating denial of service attacks, preventing information theft, and ensuring the security of VOIP communications," said Charlotte Dunlap, Current Analysis Senior Analyst at Enterprise Security. "A system that performs this sophisticated security analysis cost-effectively without impacting network performance or reliability is especially attractive."

The Enterasys Dragon IDS/IPS system is the industry`s only solution that simultaneously performs vulnerability signature matching, protocol analysis, network behavioural analysis and VOIP traffic analysis with total packet capture and complete session reconstruction to protect against the widest variety of network-based and host-based threats.

A library of over 14 000 threat signatures includes live signature updates and support for Snort signature databases. Dragon`s multi-threaded architecture and virtual sensors optimise traffic analysis while scaling to meet the needs of the world`s largest networks. The Dragon 10 Gigabit Intrusion Detection & Prevention System features distributed fault tolerance with no single point of failure to ensure high-availability and address critical business requirements while protecting existing infrastructure investments.

Available immediately, pricing for the Dragon 10 Gigabit Intrusion Detection & Prevention System starts at $175 000. To learn more, please schedule a live demonstration at www.enterasys.com/demo.
