Enterasys Networks will restructure its African channel strategy to come in line with its international counterparts. The new strategy will see Westcon servicing the South African market jointly with local distributor Duxbury, while maintaining its role as distributor for the sub-Saharan region.
Enterasys regional director, Martin May says the decision to have two distributors represent the local market comes as a result of the company`s unprecedented growth in the region.
"We are gearing up our channels ahead of a further growth drive in both the local and African markets. Enterasys has proved itself as the only viable alternative to Cisco in the region, and the increased interest from the market has forced us to re-asses our strategy," says May.
Previously Duxbury had sole distribution rights for the South African market, while Westcon distributed Enterasys products into sub-Saharan Africa.
"We will continue our strong relationship with Duxbury, but have out of necessity adopted a dual distributorship. Interest in Enterasys products has risen dramatically and we have to be mindful to cater for all our clients."
The appointment of Westcon increases Enterasys` clout to well over 160 Enterasys-certified staff, ensuring clients receive the swiftest possible service across the Continent.
"Having dual distributorship is a norm for Enterasys in most of its international operations. This strategy has proved effective in other regions and we are confident it will be no less effective in SA," says May.
Enterasys has long been a respected provider of switches and routers, however, the latest products in the Enterasys stable, such as the X-Pedition security routers, has seen the company playing a significant role in the managed security sector as well.
"Our increased play in the security space has also contributed to the decision to extend our reach. The new channel strategy is our best option to penetrate a market hungry for our products quickly and efficiently."
