Enterasys Networks establishes Secure Networks Group

Gallant leads worldwide team to define and expedite delivery of products and solutions that support the company`s differentiated Secure Networks strategy
Johannesburg, 17 Jun 2004

Enterasys Networks, the secure networks company, has announced the establishment of the Secure Networks Group and has appointed Cynthia Gallant as senior vice-president of Secure Networks.

The group is responsible for driving the company`s Secure Networks strategy, which reflects Enterasys` commitment to embedding its industry-leading security capabilities throughout its full line of networking products and solutions.

The team headed up by Gallant is charged with defining and expediting the delivery of Secure Networks products and solutions; building marketplace awareness; and delivering tools and programs that will enhance the ability of the company`s direct sales organisation and distribution partners to drive revenue and meet enterprise customers` needs for the highest levels of network security.

The key responsibilities of the new team include:

* Secure Networks product and solutions development and management;
* Professional services;
* Development of advanced partner solutions that combine Enterasys` unique capabilities with those of other security and networking industry leaders;
* Brand awareness and positioning; and
* Corporate communications, demand generation and field marketing.

Gallant has more than 20 years experience in senior sales, marketing, professional services and general management at Fortune 100 high technology companies as well as successful technology start-ups.

She joined Enterasys from Incipient, a developer of data storage software, where she was vice-president of business development. She has also worked for EMC Corporation, she was managing director of the Communications Industry Practice at Tessera Enterprise Systems, and VMARK Software (now part of IBM). Gallant also held sales and corporate marketing positions at Digital Equipment Corporation (now part of Hewlett-Packard).

"Secure Networks is our key differentiator. While other companies talk about integrating security in their future product roadmaps, Enterasys is the only company delivering it today," says Mark Aslett, president of Enterasys Networks.

"As we began focusing the company around Secure Networks in early 2004, we looked for a leader who quickly could build an organisation to leverage our investment and drive this strategy throughout Enterasys and to our partners, customers and prospects. Cynthia`s extensive strategic and operational experience will enable Enterasys to deliver the benefits of Secure Networks to more enterprises worldwide. She has an outstanding track record of effectively building new businesses and business units within major corporations, as well as successful start-ups. Working closely with our CTO, John Roese, who sets our technology vision, Cynthia and her organisation already are achieving great results expanding Secure Networks leadership in the marketplace."

The Enterasys secure networks advantage

Enterasys` industry-leading Secure Networks technology and solutions provide the highest infrastructure security available today. Secure Networks delivers the most granular level of security, providing visibility and control down to the network device, individual user and application level.

Says regional director of Enterasys Africa, Martin May: "The Secure Networks advantage enables enterprises to quickly and easily detect, assess, locate and protect against attacks. This unmatched security comes from the integrated policy-based management software architecture that works with the embedded security capabilities Enterasys designs into its entire product line."

"This unique approach offers significant operational and business benefits, unmatched by vendor offerings that add hardware or software to multiple network access points in an attempt to increase security. In fact, Secure Networks technology can even make networks with competitors` equipment more secure.

Ends May: "To have a group focused entirely on how to make this approach work for the customer is indeed an exciting step for all of us at Enterasys."
