Enterasys Networks offers free Webcast: 'It`s Not About Network Security... It`s About Secure Networks`

Panel of experts to address security risks facing today`s enterprises and the technology necessary to combat them
Johannesburg, 25 Nov 2003

Enterasys Networks Inc, a global provider of business-driven networks for enterprise customers, today announced that it will sponsor a free Webcast, entitled "It`s Not About Network Security... It`s About Secure Networks," available now at

http://www.itworld.com/enterasyssecurity

.

This informative session will feature interactive discussions with security experts including Richard Stiennon, vice-president of research, Gartner; John Roese, chief technology officer, Enterasys Networks; and Bill Laberis, technology host, iTWorld.com with a special introduction by John Gallant, president and editorial director of Network World.

The panel will address the many threats facing today`s enterprises and how traditional security measures such as security devices placed between high- and low-risk areas of communications systems simply aren`t adequate to combat these threats.

Attendees will learn about new, innovative approaches organisations are taking to mitigate risk in securing their networks and critical assets. Key discussion topics will include:

* Responding faster and more aggressively to threats;
* Improving IT efficiency throughout the enterprise;
* Reducing complexity within the network infrastructure; and
* Adapting to future demands with scalable solutions.

A key component of a business-driven network, Enterasys` Secure Networks solutions integrate security and networking technologies to improve the effectiveness and scalability of IT security. With these solutions, security is embedded throughout the network fabric, rather than being "bolted on" as single-function security appliances. Secure Networks enable customers to respond dynamically to security threats to protect their critical information assets while increasing network efficiency and maintaining a lower total cost of ownership.

"Given the security threats and challenges that enterprises are up against, it`s critical that security be built into the infrastructure rather than being layered on top of the existing network," said John Roese, chief technology officer, Enterasys Networks. "Enterasys` solutions-based approach to Secure Networks enables customers to build systems in which security is pervasive, providing the highest levels of protection at the network core, edge and even down to the port level."
