Enterasys Networks recognised as 'NAC Leader' by Forrester

Johannesburg, 03 Aug 2011

Enterasys Networks, the network infrastructure and security solutions vendor, has been recognised as 'a leader' in a detailed evaluation of NAC (Network Access Control) vendors by the research group Forrester.

In its June 2011 report entitled: The Forrester Wave: Network Access Control (NAC), Q2 2011, Forrester commends Enterasys for its “rich roadmap and strategy ahead to develop NAC technology”. Forrester also highlights Enterasys' future roadmap items, including more deployment modes, integration with IT and security management systems and application control.

Research by such a respected group as Forrester validates the Enterasys NAC solution's ability to provide customers with leading unified protection for wired and wireless heterogeneous infrastructures, including advanced guest services provided at no extra cost, says Martin May, regional director (Africa) of Enterasys Networks.

“We are pleased that Forrester's independent research report recognises Enterasys' NAC product leadership,” he notes. “It supports our long-held belief that our NAC solution is unsurpassed in its range of policy options for control, virtualisation flexibility and anytime, anywhere management.

May says Enterasys' NAC technology, when integrated with the Enterasys Network Management (NMS) solution, is capable of delivering new automation capabilities and increased visibility, thus resolving “IT pain points” such as managing virtualised servers or real-time update for configuration management database (CMDB) services.

“The latest version of Enterasys NAC provides additional device-type granularity for management and security in corporate Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environments,” he adds. “Distinguishing iPhones, iPads, Blackberry, Android or Windows devices, IT can easily assign user-owned devices different network access than managed devices.”
