Enterasys Networks Inc announced today that it has been selected as the official InteropNet 2009 hardware provider for Interop Las Vegas & New York.
The Enterasys Secure Networks solution will provide reliable, high-speed networking services for exhibitors, conference rooms and attendees as they build and manage the world's largest temporary network, connecting thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors using IP telephony, collaboration and virtualisation technologies.
Proactive security protection measures will provide open access to the Internet while preventing threats and vulnerabilities from impacting Interop operations. The 2009 Interop events will be held at the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Convention Centre (17-21 May) and in New York's Jacob Javits Convention Centre (16-20 November).
“Interop is looking forward to working with Enterasys again to deliver standards-based, open-architecture interoperability for our event,” said Lenny Heymann, General Manager of Interop.
“Enterasys dedicated an experienced and effective team of highly skilled engineers to work side-by-side with the InteropNet volunteers to leverage the advanced management visibility, and QoS priority functionality to ensure we had no network issues that would impact our educational sessions, keynotes and show floor operations.”
“The Enterasys people are dedicated professionals who worked well with the rest of the InteropNet volunteers to keep the InteropNet simple, stable and secure,” said Geoff Horne, InteropNet Architect. “I experienced first-hand the value of Enterasys gear as it quickly and easily located devices and users on the network. The correlation and reporting of that data was a first for the InteropNet.”
“InteropNet is the 'perfect storm' combination of some of the most challenging network situations any network operations team would hesitate to tackle,” said Trent Waterhouse, Enterasys VP of Marketing. “We are happy to report that the Enterasys network successfully defended against 1.4 million daily InteropNet attacks last year, without deploying a traditional firewall. Role-based access controls via Enterasys policy eliminated 33% of the previous year's trouble tickets; and the network was deployed 50% faster by volunteers who had no prior experience working with Enterasys technology. We can't wait to once again demonstrate thought leadership without arrogance working with all the InteropNet volunteers and attendees from multiple global organisations.”
Enterasys supplies backbone for InteropNet
Enterasys Secure Networks solutions will connect all of Interop's exhibitors and attendees while assuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information - without sacrificing performance.
IP telephony, collaboration and virtualisation technologies will be discovered, classified, prioritised and secured. Proactive security policies will automatically sense and respond to infrastructure threats at Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet speeds leveraging advanced Dragon Security Information Management (SIEM), Network Behavioural Analysis (NBA), Intrusion Detection/Prevention (IDP), and Network Access Control (NAC) applications.
Security will be everywhere - built-in to all access, distribution and core connections - leveraging high-availability Enterasys Matrix and Enterasys SecureStack networking equipment.
Unlike traditional technology-oriented port and VLAN ACL-based methods, network operators don't need to configure role-based access controls on a box-by-box basis using complex CLI commands. An intuitive NetSight GUI will enable InteropNet NOC staff to define the role-based policies once, and regardless of the number of moves, adds or changes throughout the event, have those user and application policies enforced automatically across the entire network.
