Enterprise-strength ABC software from GBI

Johannesburg, 15 Jun 1999

Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI) has announced the release in South Africa of Metify, the first enterprise-strength activity based costing and management (ABC/M) software.

Metify V1.1, Armstrong Laing`s flagship product, includes Web and client-server enhancements as well as value-add financial applications. Mike Sherratt, Metify UK CEO in South Africa to promote the new product, says: "This is the first multi-user client-server application that enables cross-functional teams or departments to update Metify ABM and simultaneously work in a realtime collaborative environment. In addition, browser-based clients allow teams to deploy it over the Web."

This release extends the functionality of the product for performance management and process modelling. Armstrong Laing recently announced an alliance with CorVu to add CorVu`s Balanced Scorecard solution to the Metify suite. This will enable companies to measure operations accurately using financial and non-financial criteria. Companies can track and improve customer and channel profitability, revenue/expense ratios, organisational expertise, quality, employee output, timeliness and responsiveness, product and service mix, and more. Added process management capabilities enable businesses to implement process improvement and reengineering initiatives.

Mark Williams, GBI MD, sees Metify as providing significant strategic advantage to GBI in marketing business intelligence software for the financial arena.

"Nobody else has managed to achieve pure client-server, Internet-enabled, multi-user ABC software. Metify V1.1 also incorporates best business practices with its process modeling and performance management. This is a solid base for all corporate initiatives."

Metify ABM, available in proof-of-concept Solo and multi-user Team Editions, is a packaged application that transforms general ledger and other data into business process and activity costs. This information arms managers with the business insight necessary to determine target-costing strategies, evaluate supply chain strategies, plan resource requirements, determine shared services pricing, evaluate outsourcing options and pinpoint processes for improvement.
