EOH, one of SA`s largest consulting, technology and outsourcing companies listed on the software and computer services sector of the JSE, has been appointed as the master reseller in Sub-Saharan Africa for Mercury, a world-leading provider of business technology optimisation (BTO) solutions.
"As one of the fastest growing global software companies, Mercury was looking for a partner that would meet its expansion plans. EOH was appointed due to its formidable track record as one of Africa`s leading business and technology solution providers. Also important was its desire to exceed its social responsibilities in this developing climate. As an international company operating within sub-Saharan Africa, it was vital that we selected a master reseller that was significantly empowered," says David Caddick, South Africa Country Manager, Mercury UK.
"EOH has vast experience as a master reseller, and as such fully understands the need to drive adoption of our solutions while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction."
EOH will form a new business unit called Mercury Africa and will retain all Mercury`s existing employees and consultants within its local operation. It will also preserve Mercury`s current partner and customer contracts.
"The Mercury Interactive appointment makes strategic sense to EOH - it fits perfectly with our business model - supplying and implementing solutions that extend beyond the application layer. Mercury`s BTO solutions are focused on the end-user experience and not only the back-end technology," says Keith Fairhurst, director, EOH.
EOH will also bring immense value to Mercury`s current customer base by offering integration with different technology platforms and solutions it offers. Conversely, the newly formed EOH Mercury will have an opportunity to sell BTO solutions to EOH`s existing customer base, providing the group with another value-added service.
BTO is a growing market. Over several decades, IT organisations have played an influential role in optimising critical business processes across the enterprise. "Now it`s time for IT itself to get optimised," says Caddick. Savvy CIOs are aligning business and IT goals while maximising the quality, performance and availability of strategic applications."
"Mercury helps customers optimise the business value of IT. Its BTO software and services enable customers to optimise the governance, delivery and management of IT-delivered applications while managing costs, risks and compliance," says Caddick.
"Discovery is growing rapidly and so are the demands of our IT operations. Mercury has helped us rethink the IT quality process in our organisation, assisting us to ensure best practice standards are being upheld. We now have tighter controls, which have standardised and improved our working methods," says Gary Taylor, head of Group Information Services at Discovery, one of Mercury`s clients.
"The Mercury solution now forms part of the organisation`s future, bringing great benefits to Discovery, as well as our customers. We are very pleased that Mercury will now be part of the EOH Group of Companies and that we, as a customer, will have access to the broader range of products and services in the EOH stable," concludes Taylor.
Mercury offers three BTO pillars: IT Governance - used by CIOs and IT executives to govern and manage the priorities, processes, and people required to run IT like a business; Application Delivery used by developer, QA, and performance testing teams to test and tune custom and packaged business applications during the pre-and post-deployment stages; and Application Management - used by IT operations teams to optimise the performance and availability of applications in production and proactively resolve problems when they arise.
South African organisations need to focus on managing their IT operations more effectively and show a better return. "That is Mercury`s sweet spot," says Fairhurst. "They are the only vendors with an expansive offering covering all IT bases that tests and manages the IT process from an end-user perspective," concludes Fairhurst.
