EOH buys LANmetrix

Johannesburg, 13 Jun 2007

EOH, one of South Africa's largest technology, consulting and outsourcing companies listed on the software and computer services sector of the JSE, today announced that it has acquired network specialists, LANmetrix (LMX).

Asher Bohbot, chief executive officer of EOH, says the acquisition is in keeping with its stated growth plan, to offer end-to-end solutions to its clients.

"Our acquisition of Bromide last year provided EOH with a strong infrastructure partner, while the launch of EOH Interim Talent is providing the market with much needed IT skills."

He says the LMX acquisition significantly enhances the company's provision of hosting and networking solutions, and EOH is very excited about the level of skill the team at LMX provides.

"As a company, we value people and the talent that lies within each individual. We were very impressed with what LMX offers and see great synergies between our respective companies," says Bohbot.

LMX was founded in 1994 and provides network and WAN optimisation solutions. Bohbot says the company's skills transcend product knowledge, incorporating consulting and network strategy: "Networking is an important component of IT today and the LMX team is among the best in the industry."

Vendor neutral and product independent, LMX believes that everything is, in fact, a networking problem. "A network encompasses everything from the wire, through the technology to the application and the business user," says Hendrick Mosopa, CEO of LMX.

Mosopa views the EOH acquisition as extremely positive, believing that LMX will grow and prosper within an organisation such as EOH: "This is a very important and positive move for LMX as it signifies a move from an industrial focused environment to an IT focused one. Whereas before we were a very small component of the Barloworld business, we now form an integral part of EOH and its growth strategy. The acquisition will also enable us to add value to EOH's large customer pool."

He says both LMX and EOH share an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to succeed. "We are totally committed to network and application service delivery. Our focus rests on analysis, troubleshooting and the ongoing performance management of network infrastructure and networked applications."

According to Brett Airey, Sales and Marketing Director of LMX, the South African networking market is growing at a rapid pace. Airey says that networking is critical for any IT operation: "If the network doesn't work, a company's IT system is useless. LMX now closes the loop in the EOH model by offering a complete network strategy."

Effective from 1 June 2007, Bohbot and Mosopa look forward to building a successful networking business together.

LANmetrix

Founded in 1994 by a group of entrepreneurial network specialists, LMX (also known as LANmetrix) has established a reputation as a result-orientated provider of leading-edge network and WAN optimisation solutions. Renowned for our diagnostic capabilities, LMX has evolved over the years into a trusted advisor and partner to some of South Africa's leading companies. LANmetrix is vendor-neutral and product-independent. The company is totally committed to network and application service delivery to the business. The focus is on analysis, troubleshooting and ongoing performance management of network infrastructures and networked applications. LANmetrix established credibility early on by doing problem diagnosis in a reactive mode and, over the years, has evolved the ideology of problem avoidance, whereby proactive measures have made way for a predictive approach. Today it has established relationships with clients, whereby it becomes an irreplaceable and valuable part within their organisation, offering non-product based solutions for optimising and enhancing network performances on an ongoing basis. In LANmetrix's eyes, everything is, in fact, a network problem; the difference being that the network encompasses everything from the wire, through the technology, to the application and the business users.

LANmetrix increases its value further by determining and analysing the intricate relationships between users and business, and all the various networking components which make up networks that deliver business services on an ongoing basis.
