Pragmatic Systems Testing (PST) is an engineering approach to testing software and systems. PST is an approach and methodology for planning, executing and completing systems testing.
According to Ezanne Grobler, General Manager at EOH Global Testing Service (EOH GTS), PST is particularly appropriate for environments, teams and companies that are creative and agile, but still need a formal test and release project phase for new products.
EOH GTS provides a specialised testing service of software and applications. Their vast testing knowledge and global best practices enables them to provide testing solutions to South Africa's blue-chip companies.
The holistic approach of PST and minimal set of requirements and documentation means it can be incorporated into existing processes and methodologies using applicable parts or even just the basic philosophy of plan, execute and improve. “EOH GTS testing methodology is founded on the characteristics of PST, which include delivering key benefits to our customers that help mitigate business risks,” says Grobler.
PST defines a minimal set of tasks, activities and infrastructure for system testing that can ameliorate typical testing problems, reduce program risks and contain testing costs. The testing system can be adapted to factors such as company culture, products, test personnel experience and availability of tools.
She explains that a pragmatic approach to systems testing can work within the constraints of time, money and resources. “EOH GTS delivers high quality innovative test efforts that have been properly engineered and provide clients with reduced test cycles and significant cost reductions,” concludes Grobler.
