EOH, Mimecast partner to take customers into cloud

Mimecast UEM platform becomes a vital part of the EOH cloud strategy for southern Africa.

Johannesburg, 06 Aug 2012

EOH, a JSE-listed technology services provider, has officially announced the incorporation of Mimecast, South Africa's leading supplier of e-mail archiving, continuity and security for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, as its primary source of e-mail management functionality within the cloud environment.

This agreement will see EOH incorporate Mimecast's Unified Email Management solution into client e-mail infrastructure requirements, with a view to building on the group's established presence within the South African cloud computing market.

Mimecast Unified Email Management offers clients a cohesive approach to e-mail management through the integration of security and hygiene, continuity and archiving solutions into a cloud-based service, which is managed from a central administration console.

This significantly reduces the complexity typically associated with e-mail management, while ensuring uninterrupted communication delivery. Mimecast's Unified Email Management solution also incorporates a 10-year archiving service with 'track and trace' functionality, while offering continuous security and data leakage prevention (DLP) policy enforcement.

According to Dominic Oettl, EOH Divisional Director, the decision to partner with Mimecast was an easy choice for the organisation.

“Mimecast has a mature offering and is clearly an innovator in this space. Their considerable experience in the field of cloud-based e-mail management has resulted in a fantastic collection of offerings that we are excited to present to our clients.”

“Unified Email Management ticks our 'communication over the cloud' box in a big way. We believe that this solution could potentially serve as a gateway towards more comprehensive deployments within both the private and public sectors in years to come.”

Going forward, Mimecast will play a vital role in EOH's strategy for cloud deployment in South Africa, comments Oettl, who adds that customer interest in cloud related technologies has grown significantly over the past year.

“EOH's move into the cloud computing arena places Mimecast in a prime position as a business partner to EOH, as far as e-mail services in the cloud are concerned. We are dedicated to match EOH's investment in building the infrastructure and capabilities we will need to drive the process further,” comments Garth Wittles, managing director at Mimecast South Africa.

“Customers no longer want to own IT,” adds Oettl. “In response, we have developed a strategy which will see EOH provision an elastic cloud infrastructure as a service offering. Our partnership with Mimecast as a cloud-based e-mail management specialist is a step towards the realisation of a broader vision for hosted services in southern Africa.”

EOH's confidence in Mimecast is substantiated by several studies and reports, which highlight the service organisation as a global leader in e-mail management.

Recently, Mimecast was placed in the Champion segment of a new Bloor Research InComparison paper, which examines the e-mail security market, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of key players in the space.

The report also features a Bullseye chart that ranks vendors as Champions, Innovators or Challengers, with Mimecast positioned closest to the middle and identified as the vendor most 'fit-for-purpose'.

“Mimecast's recognition in the Bloor report highlights its continued dedication to ensuring business e-mail in the cloud is as secure as possible. EOH is proud to be associated with Mimecast, knowing that we could rely on their technology to build great solutions our customers will appreciate,” concludes Oettl.
