Enterprise information management is facing a major evolution in the form of big data, says EOH's Louis de Gouveia.

EOH has partnered with provider of management and platform Cloudera to help business harness big data.

Backed by EOH Cloudera services, EOH can now provide a collaborative information management platform built on Cloudera Apache Hadoop that it says can deliver the right information and visualisation abilities to gain accurate, timely insights.

The solution is used to store that traditional databases cannot cater for and is geared towards crunching volumes of data, says Louis de Gouveia, EOH Cloudera Services competency manager.

It will help organisations store large volumes of data and derive hidden insights from data that would usually go unnoticed, he adds.

By bringing data silos together to make a data lake, companies can compare data from the different silos and find trends in the data, says De Gouveia.

"For example a bank will have a system for credit cards, ATMs, credit control and risk mitigation. If you bring all of this together and provide a single view of the information you can get more insights."

EOH says currently more than 65% of the Fortune 100 is using big data to drive their business. It adds that according to a recent Gartner survey, more than 75% of companies are investing or planning to invest in big data in the next two years.

Enterprise information management is facing a major evolution in the form of big data and businesses need to come to terms with how to manage the increasing variety, volume and velocity of information, says De Gouveia.

"We will help empower business users and analysts to easily visualise, analyse and report on data in Cloudera Enterprise to expose the true insights in our customers' data.

"This ability to analyse data intelligently and effectively results in increased overall business value, with higher growth, productivity and profitability."

The ability to extract insights from large amounts of data requires a specialised skillset that uses statistical and mathematical methods to extract hidden insights from data that would usually go unnoticed, says EOH.

"In order to obtain value from data in Cloudera Enterprise, it is critical to establish the system architecture to support businesses' big data requirements. EOH can assist in laying the foundation of organisations solutions by offering various infrastructure services."
