EOH to exhibit at Institute of Municipal Finance Officers conference

Johannesburg, 29 Sep 2006

EOH, one of South Africa`s leading technology, consulting and outsourcing companies listed on the JSE, will exhibit at the annual Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO) conference.

EOH will showcase two of its business units, EOH Consulting and ALG Southern Africa, at the event. The conference will be held in Johannesburg from 2 to 4 October and its focus will be "Working towards Excellence in Local Government: from Compliance to Delivery".

EOH group marketing manager Rentia Tutton says: "The IMFO conference is a perfect platform for EOH to present its innovative product and service offerings. Our business units EOH Consulting and ALG Southern Africa both have the ability to rapidly deploy solutions that deliver a positive contribution to improved service delivery in the municipal sector and will thus assist IMFO in communicating its central message."

EOH Consulting works with local government to develop and integrate tailor-made, public sector specific solutions through its E3 methodology (Efficient, Effective, Economical) in both sustainable and affordable services. "We work in partnership ensuring continued service improvement and delivery through the application of appropriate Public Sector specific solutions," explains Dr Mathews Phosa, Non-Executive Chairman of EOH.

Dr Phosa says that aside from a need for broader IT services, EOH believes it is imperative that IT and business, and IT and government are closely linked: "EOH has the perfect credentials to do this effectively. It is simply about ensuring the effective, efficient and economical use of limited resources, while boosting social and economic development."

Local government faces many challenges including the implementation of legislation such as the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA). "EOH Consulting is well placed to support local government with the implementation of the MFMA, we operationalise our strategies by focusing on best practice processes, people and technology," says Dion Ramoo, Head of EOH Consulting Public Sector.

ALG Southern Africa is a global provider of performance management solutions to Global 5000 enterprises and leading government agencies. It has successfully implemented a cost and performance management solution, based on an activity based methodology (ABM), at Buffalo City Municipality and says it will showcase this expertise to IMFO.

"Buffalo City was the first local government in South Africa to embrace ABM and we are excited about taking this case study to IMFO," says Bruckner de Villiers, Business Unit Manager, ALG Southern Africa.

De Villiers says Buffalo City decided that ALG`s EPO ABM solution was the best application to meet its requirements as it has the ability to analyse individual activities, give an exact cost to provide each service, as well as identify how resources can be deployed more effectively. "The execution of our solution has ultimately led to the improvement of service delivery at Buffalo City Municipality. The results achieved from the activity-based management approach have enabled Buffalo City to efficiently compare the costs of services to the tariffs set out for the public. This allows tariffs to be brought in line with service costs and to be set more accurately, also providing transparency to ratepayers," explains de Villiers.

He says ALG Southern Africa also provided Buffalo City Municipality with an advanced budgeting solution. "Linking the ABM methodology and results to ALG Southern Africa`s Predictive Planning solution facilitates proactive budgeting as it allows changes made to the data to be seen across the entire organisation almost immediately," says De Villiers.

This case study, along with ALG`s Southern Africa`s other recent successes, will be available for review at the IMFO conference.
