The EOH Wireless DSL product, which competes with Business DSL and other small business Internet services, is performing at speeds often only achieved by far more expensive dedicated solutions. Through a recent client survey, EOH NS asked clients to do speed tests on their respective services to gauge the level they were delivering at.
The results of the test in the 15Mbps Wireless DSL category was a download speed during business hours at the full value of the service.
Most services in this category are contended, which means it's unlikely to get the full benefit of the link size, except possibly after hours.
"We are very happy with the current performance of our Wireless DSL product range, and the customer feedback in terms of the service is getting stronger every day. The pricing for the product ranges from just over R5 000 per month to just under R9 000 for a 15Mbps connection. It addresses a very large market in the country," says Brandon Dienar, Sales Manager at EOH Network Solutions.
But EOH NS is also quick to point out that getting to this point was not plain sailing. It has taken a significant investment in its wireless network and a number of teething problems to get to the point of a well-performing network.
"Among other things, we entered the wireless space by acquiring a wireless provider. However, the network quality and technology deployed was not at the right standard; as a result, our clients, as well as us, suffered for it. We pulled the network onto our fibre ring, replaced all the core links with 17Ghz access and reinvested into the technology at the high site through a partnership with Alcatel. The benefits of these decisions are becoming clearer every day, and while we continue to have challenges in the network, we are excited about the results we are seeing," ends Dienar.
