Epicor launches new approach to local enterprise resource planning mid-market

Next-generation enterprise resource planning solution featuring Epicor True SOA, and real-time business insight using Microsoft Office applications and mobile devices such as Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, and the Apple iPhone.

Johannesburg, 04 Jun 2009

After opening offices in South Africa over the past year, Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a provider of enterprise business software for the mid-market, today announced the launch of its next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution Epicor 9.

Using more than 20 years of experience designing and implementing ERP solutions, Epicor is introducing a new approach to the way ERP systems are designed, built and used. Epicor 9 utilises Web 2.0 to provide users with a collaborative and dynamic enterprise business application experience.

“Globally, we have a distinguished track record of delivering the latest, flexible technologies at the lowest total cost of ownership,” said Kevin Pentecost, Epicor South Africa. “These next-generation enterprise applications solutions are now available in South Africa, with Epicor 9 designed for the way people work, in a dynamic environment where there is business without barriers.”

At the core of Epicor 9 is an adaptable and collaborative business architecture that satisfies the needs of mid-market enterprise regardless of location, industry, or access device, enabling business anywhere.

Epicor's enterprise business solution is built on a second-generation service-oriented architecture (SOA), Epicor Internet Component Environment (ICE) 2.0. The backbone of Epicor's next-generation ERP solutions, Epicor ICE, fuses Web 2.0 technologies with Epicor True SOA to deliver business architecture that offers new levels of flexibility, usability, and agility in support of application-to-application integration and business-to-business collaboration.

“We have been working with Epicor solutions for many years and are now testing Epicor 9. The new functionality and advanced technology looks impressive and believe it will deliver us significant benefits when we upgrade next year,” added Paul Beresford, Business Systems Director at Communisis PLC.

“With Epicor 9, Epicor continues its proven history of innovation with Microsoft technology by working to redefine the enterprise application software experience,” said Walid Abu-Hadba, CVP, Developer & Platform Evangelism for Microsoft Corp. “We applaud Epicor for its deep utilisation of the Microsoft platform to deliver its next-generation service-based business solutions. We expect that the combination of Epicor and Microsoft software will enable companies to drive greater efficiencies and create new business value as users are empowered to work smarter and faster.”
