Epicor looks into retail

Epicor Software now offers MarkdownXpert, a next-generation optimisation solution from Applied Intelligence Solutions (AIS), reports Accounting Software 411.

Markdown optimisation enables retailers to apply an effective markdown strategy to better manage inventory and margin risk; while some level of markdowns are key to stimulating sales, unchecked near-continuous markdowns can erode profits.

AIS's MarkdownXpert solution provides retailers with more accurate, timely and granular information about consumer demand so they can optimise and streamline markdown practices.

Software firm eyes Philippines

A software company, JDA Software Philippines, the local subsidiary of the JDA Software Group, is eyeing the Philippines as a major market, citing the concentration of retail businesses such as shopping malls in the country, says BusinessWorld.

The company said the country's retail sector could expand further with the increasing competitiveness of regional businesses.

"There is a large concentration of top retailers in the Philippines, which means that retail has a very big impact on the economy," JDA Asia-Pacific president Stephen McNulty said in a press briefing. He added that more than half of the top 10 performing retailers in Asia are found in the Philippines.
