Epicor Software, a provider of enterprise business software solutions for the mid-market and divisions of Global 1 000 companies, unveiled an enhanced Enterprise 2.0 strategy, states TMCnet.

Epicor aims to help businesses increasingly focused on effective organisation-wide execution to drive growth through innovation with the combination of Epicor 9 next-generation applications and Microsoft SharePoint 2010.

The company says integrating social networking features into business applications is an increasingly vital strategy for improving organisational efficiency and productivity, as well as harnessing knowledge through collaboration.

All set for MS Lync release

Microsoft Lync, the company's next wave of unified communications software, is getting closer to general availability, reports InfoTech.

Lync, a brand that combines the terms 'link' and 'sync' to reflect new ways of connecting people, is currently in a 'release candidate' stage and is available to download and try.

It is Microsoft's final milestone prior to release to and general availability expected by the end of this year.

IBM bolsters cloud security

IBM is augmenting its cloud offerings with three new professional services to help enterprises plan for and implement appropriate security policies, processes and controls in migrating to the cloud, reveals Network Computing.

These include security strategy roadmap for organisations planning to purchase or provide cloud services, security assessment for existing and planned cloud initiatives, and application security services to determine appropriate controls to secure business applications and the sensitive data they access in a cloud environment.

"As soon as data centre services leave an enterprise's control, there is concern because they can't necessarily see it or see what they need to do to uncover or plug up any security issues," says Lynda Stadtmueller, program manager, business communication services for Stratecast, a division of Frost & Sullivan.
