Epson provides faster, cost-effective and more productive scanner for businesses

Johannesburg, 27 Feb 2001

Epson SA has announced the local availability of one of its fastest and most cost-effective business scanners to date, the GT-30000. This new offering comes with a duplexing automatic document feeder, capabilities and auto document sizing.

"Its ability to scan an amazing 30 pages per minute at 300dpi in mono and 15 pages per minute at 300dpi in full colour, makes it ideal for offices that need to store and archive high volume information, but don`t have the space or time for hard copy filing," comments Hans Dummer, general manager at Epson SA.

Moreover, the GT-30000 features 36-bit scanning, catering for both high quality colour images and clear black and white documents. The inclusion of a new version of TWAIN and an ISIS(r) (Image and Scanner Interface Specification) driver ensures complete compatibility with industry standard document-processing & OCR , assuring a business that its hardware is supported by a wide range of compatible applications.

For further cost effectiveness the new scanner is compatible with Epson`s Image Express which eliminates the need for a dedicated PC to connect the scanner to the server.

Furthermore, incorporated in the GT-30000 is EPSON`s QuickStart system. One touch of a button allows user friendly scanning and a Xenon Gas Fluorescent lamp eliminates warm up time to allow for immediate use. "The GT-30000 will also automatically recognise the size of any document, thus enhancing its ease of use and ensuring it includes all the essential elements for an office scanner, particularly important where employee expertise of the equipment may vary," concludes Dummer.
