Ernst & Young selected as partner in mySAP.com network

Johannesburg, 10 Feb 2000

Ernst & Young has been selected as an e-business solution provider and partner by SAP America to participate in the mySAP.com Partner Network.

Network partners will use the solution to enhance online collaboration in marketplaces. The mySAP.com solution is a strategy that provides a collaborative business environment of personalised solutions on demand.

Ernst & Young e-commerce capabilities cover strategy creation, application development and integration, integrating legacy systems with e-commerce applications, enterprise resource planning systems integration and e-commerce business consulting at all levels across multiple industries.

The firm says local consumers spent R2.7 billion in Internet-generated purchases in 1999, while business-to-business e-commerce reached almost R4 billion and growth is expected to be even greater in 2000.

Ernst & Young plans to bring a number of services to the partnership network table. These include hosting marketplaces and services, collaborative business scenarios, marketplace development and integration.

Peter Kroll, a specialist at Ernst & Young International, says that since its launch in November last year, mySAP.com has received positive market reaction.

The solution has been marketed as one that is both personalised and used to help initiate an open collaboration situation. According to SAP and Ernst & Young, this means that the user interface can be personalised according to the specific role of any user within a company.

The network is looking at the business-to-business market as a strategic focal point. Ernst & Young believes this will be a critical area for e-commerce-generated business.
